Area Guide to EnfieldFor lettings in Enfield, please use the menu above. A large outer London borough to the far north, bordered by Haringey to the south, Barnet to the west and Waltham Forest to the south-east. Now with a population of around 274,000, Enfield was once a small town some distance away from London, but with the relentless sprawl of the city, is now part of Greater London. Despite it's location to the far north, excellent transport links can have you in Central London in a relatively short time, with places like Southgate, Oakwood and Cockfosters served by the Piccadilly underground line. Enfield is also served by train with a journey of around 25 minutes to zone 1. The standard of living is rather mixed, just like most other London boroughs. Leafy middle class areas in the west give way to some pretty awful council estates, with the usual concrete tower blocks to the east close to the borough of Waltham Forest. There are many respectable areas to be found like Cockfosters, Oakwood, Palmers Green, parts of Southgate and Winchmore Hill. Larger detached and semi-detached houses can be found in the quieter and more relaxed Enfield Town. If you have a limited budget then head east and to areas such as Edmonton and Ponders End, which are like a wasteland of council tower blocks.
