One of the greatest cities in the world, London is home to some 7.2 million people of which 71% are white, around 12% Asian, 5% black African and 5% black Caribbean, with over 300 languages spoken. After years of decline, population is now on the rise again, expecting to top 8 million by around 2015. London is a vast city covering more than 600 sq miles, with 32 boroughs and the City of London.

The list of things to do are endless. If you want theatres, bars, clubs, restaurants, cafe's and shops then the West End is full of them, with mass competition driving standards to a high. Many historic sites can be found in the City of London, and museums can be found in Kensington & Chelsea. If you fancy the market then Camden Town is the place to go. The East End of London offers something of a real London feel, though has a rather rough feel to it.

London is well known for it's high rental and property prices, but don't always expect high standards. The capital has the wealthiest and poorest places in the UK, with multi-million pound homes giving way to hideous council estate slums and concrete tower blocks.

The best town houses can be found in the central zones, many from the Georgian, Regency and Victorian era, though many have been carved up into apartments. Prices are highest in the Chelsea, Knightsbridge, Kensington and Notting Hill just to name a few. More spacious, but expensive properties can be found in the boroughs of Barnet, Bromley, Camden and Richmond Upon Thames.

The poorest parts of London tend to be in the east, and small pockets in the south. Hackney and Tower Hamlets are two of the poorest places in the UK, with a mass of council housing and run down shopping areas. South of the Thames boroughs like Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark contain some tired, old and dirty areas ruined by graffiti and high crime rates. Many other parts of London have a mix of private and council housing, with generally lofty prices.
